Quilted pieces are hand made using the slab method.  The quilted pattern is gridded with pencil and then hand carved before the pieces first firing.  After the first fire the color is added to the quilted design along with a glossy glaze and the piece again goes through the firing process.
 
The intensive design process of this piece means that hours are spent with each quilted piece.  Though care in measurement and creating is taken, each piece is unique.
